|Well, those of you who missed out on the 2005 nationals really made a mistake. What great fun we had!
Bermuda High was a wonderful site to host a contest for the PW-5. Frank and Jayne made sure everyone felt welcome, and the airport facility was not only pleasant and well laid out, but had that good old Southern Charm too. The many local people, not only employees of Bermuda High, but the members of the local club as well, helped when needed, stayed out of the way when not needed, and provided a great feeling of hospitality at all times.
The weather started out pretty good, then got a little worse, then got pretty bad. Then after a few 'survival' days, it didn't just get better, it became fantastic! Unfortunately, the best day of all was the day after the contest ended, but for those of us who could stay the extra day, 8 knots to 7000 ft made a delayed return home well worth while.
Charlie Spratt was his usual masterful self as the Contest Director, getting days in when others thought it couldn't be done, and using everything the weather could provide us.
Social events included not only the usual good food and good company, but we even got a dusk concert by Ed Kilbourn. What a marvelous way to end a day of flying.
If you missed out on this one, don't repeat the mistake! Make plans for next year.
