For those of you who may be interested in a "cross-country clinic" with current or past US Team members, here are several opportunities. Experience level can be anywhere from novice to experienced cross-country pilot.
- At Chilhowee, TN, Dave Stevenson and I will run a series of one-day cross-country and racing clinics. The format is as follows: 1.5 to 2 hours of ground instruction in the morning, and a cross-country flight of about 1.5 hr during the afternoon with Dave or myself in one of the two Blanicks at Chilhowee. We have set a maximum of two students each per day to maximize interaction. The fees will cover tow, glider rental, and a donation to the US Team. Dates are June 4, June 5, June 25, June 26, Sept 24, and Sept 25. Depending on demand, Aug 27 and 28 may be added although they are not preferred due to the typically hot-and-humid conditions. Contact Sarah Kelly at: info@chilhowee.com
At Bermuda High Soaring, SC, Johnny Byrd and I will run one-day cross-country and racing clinics for those having access to a PW5 or glider of similar performance. The dates are the three days preceding (May 14, 15, 16) and the three days following (May 28, 29, 30) the US World Class National at BHSS. The format will be 1.5 to 2 hours of ground instruction in the morning and "lead-and-follow" cross-country in the afternoon on a typical 2 to 3 hours cross-country task. Two students each maximum per day. For those not having access to a PW5 or similar-performance glider, the possibility of flying dual in a two-seater should be arranged with BHSS. Daily fees will include a donation to the US Team. Contact Frank or Jayne Reid at: soaring4fun@mindspring.com
