A note from Charles Yeates, North America agent for the Swidnick/Jesow PW5:
The lower part of the PW-5 rudder is supported by a metal pin that rests in a fuselage located bearing. Please make sure that this pin/bearing connection is lubricated frequently enough to ensure easy
motion. Recently, two cases have been reported where this joint has locked so tightly that it has proven impossible to separate the pieces & the rudder was damaged in each case.
While lack of sufficient lubrication may have been the primary cause of the problem, I think it is probable that the very strong rudder pedal springs aggravate the situation.
